Modesty Matters - Featuring Sarah Willis

Before we begin, a word on why we are having this event. Too often, people feel that being modest means you have to be frumpy, wear baggy clothes, wear no makeup, and pull stringy hair back into a pony tail. We're here to say that modesty can and should be classy, elegant, modern, and downright beautiful! We're daughters of the King! Hopefully these posts inspire you to dress as attractively as you can - whether you work outside the home or are a SAHM and SAHW. Our husbands are worth it. Our family and friends are worth it. WE are worth it.

Special Note:
Each entry to the giveaways needs it's separate comment. Please do not compile all entries into one comment. Remember, a random number generator selects the winner. More comments = better chance of winning. Thank you!

Let's welcome my sister Sarah!

So, for a little bit about me, I am sixteen years old. I have a great love for music. Playing the piano, violin, and singing are some of my favorite things to do. I also enjoy serving in our Baptist church. I accepted Christ as my savior when I was five years old, and I am very blessed to have grown up in a Christian home.
For my own personal convictions, I believe that modest clothing should not be too tight or too low. I also believe that skirts/dresses should be below the knee as the bible says in Exodus 28:42 that the thigh should not be uncovered. One of the reasons I have chosen not to wear pants is because pants accent parts of the body that skirts do not, (such as the legs and back side) making them more revealing and not as modest as a skirt
Modesty must begin in the heart. We must not just dress modestly and yet, have no heart change. God cares most about our hearts. And if our heart is right, it will flow out into our dress and actions, making us want to dress modestly in order to bring glory to God. Modesty is the characteristic of a women whose heart has been changed from self-will, to godliness. It reveals the attitude of a women that lives to honor God, and cares more what God says than what the world says. Romans 12:2 states that we are to be set apart from the world. We don’t have to dress like the world in order to be beautiful. God can make you more beautiful than any fashion designer can, for He specializes in internal makeovers.
1 Corinthians 6:19 says “…your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you…” Our body is the temple. We should have respect for it and not make ourselves cheap by revealing too much. Because of my love for Christ, I have chosen to dress modestly because I am the daughter of the King, and I’m sure He wouldn’t want His princess walking about dressed inappropriately. As His princess, my ultimate goal in life is to honor and glorify Him.
1 Timothy 2:9 states “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel…” Dressing modestly is always beautiful! Especially if it is done with the right heart. Thomas Monson stated “You can dress attractively without being immodest. Within the Lord’s guidelines, there is room for you to be lively, vibrant and beautiful, both in your dress and in your actions.”

Thank you, Sarah, for your beautiful words and beautiful outfits!
