In the Spirit of Femininity: Godly Literature

Today, I am thrilled to be sharing the work of several Christian authors with you! The giveaway will be so much fun! But, first, a few thoughts on godly literature.

What is it that makes one book more God-honoring than another?

Here are some guidelines!

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Philippians 4:8

Remember, you are known by your friends...and your books! A wise man once said, "Show me a man's books and I'll show you his character".

Remember that when you are choosing your literature!

And now for our giveaway!

  48. Well, I already have one-half of Collection 1, but the other book looks so neat. Collections 2 and 4 also pique my interest.

This topic reminds of a popular science video report I watched recently (on the DNews YouTube channel, which by the way I disagree with on every fundamental premise of life, but in this case I think we can learn something from them). The topic of this particular video was that we should read more fiction. Reading fiction exercises your brain because, whatever the activity the characters in the book are doing, the brain of the reader becomes active in the areas that would control that action. It's almost as if, when you read, you're giving yourself practice at the things that are taking place in the story. Their explanation didn't go very in-depth, so I don't know whether this only applies to certain sorts of actions, or whether it applies to more abstract things like emotions and thought processes, and the extent of it might vary among people. I certainly tend to sympathize with the main character in books I read and almost feel as if I am the one acting in the story, so I can see how this can be a really healthy or unhealthy habit to have. Just a reminder that science backs up the biblical idea of monitoring our thoughts and what we take in.
