(It is pretty awesome - it is sitting here in my bedroom and I keep casting wistful glances at it...)

Tips for Creating a Personalized Gift Basket

Create a special gift basket for friends and family by choosing a selection of items that they will enjoy.

Customization is key
The key to creating a thoughtful gift that will truly be appreciated is understanding your recipient. Think about what the person likes and tailor your basket to them.  What are their special interests?

Choose a Theme                                               Choose a Color Palette

It’s great to have a color palette to help guide your selections for the gift basket but not always necessary.
Make a list, check it twice
Once you have settled on a theme, brainstorm a list of complementary items, determine your budget and begin exploring your options at the hobby store, thrift shops and just maybe what do you already have on hand. It is always especially nice to give a hand crafted gift made with love. You could always add a special gift card to their liking-a special place they enjoy visiting.

Presentation
Want to make a gift basket but wondering what kind of basket to use? The traditional choice is the wicker basket, whether round, square, or rectangular. But depending on the theme of your basket, you can make a gift basket using many other containers too...Laundry basket, cleaning bucket, a colander or large mixing bowl for kitchen related gifts. Terracotta pot for gardening gifts, serving tray for a coffee or tea themed basket.  An old jewelry box filled with small beauty gifts. Think outside of the basket!!
If you don't have a container handy, you can always make a gift basket by covering a cardboard shoebox, oatmeal box, or other small box with pretty paper and using that as the base for your package. Recycle and reuse as much as you can! Make it fun!!
Baskets are nice, but a reusable lunchbox or tote bag, mason jars, metal, wooden or ceramic bowls, even backpacks or messenger bags are practical (and reusable!) options, some decorative reusable bags from grocery stores(not those icky grey plastic bags). Or wrap your items with a pretty scarf, table linens, tea towels or some other creative wrapping. Pack the base of your container with shredded paper or scrunched up tissue paper, netting, lace, raffia or any other type of filler, then arrange the items you want to give.
Gift Basket Ideas by Theme
